Bouchard Pere & Fils Volnay Caillerets 2007

More splurging. This 1er cru Volnay showed beautiful aromas of spice, black cherry, raspberry, animal notes, rose petals, pepper, chocolate and more. The palate was superbly balanced, with deep linear fruit over minerals and superb tannins and acid. Mouth feel is airy and finish very elegant and dry. Still conceivably young but very drinkable now. Highly pleasurable and recommended.

Frederic Magnien Chambolle-Musigny Coeur de Pierres 2006

Being quite partial to Chambolle-Musigny wines, I picked up this one for dinner. On the nose were nice aromas of red and black cherry and some floral notes. The palate was well balanced with decent acid, minerals and soft and sleek tannins. Quite well built and could cellar well. A touch overpriced but worth it. Very nice.

Chateau La Lagune 2006

Splurging a little, we opened this 3rd growth GCC from Haut-Medoc after enjoying the 2nd wine from this Chateau. After some decanting time the nose showed aromas of plum, currants, oak, pine, coffee, chocolate, cherry and savoury herbs. On the palate quite ready to go yet still depth underneath. Pure fruits over clean minerals and a long finish, this was a stylish and accomplished Bordeaux. Very nice.
