Kooyong Haven Pinot Noir 2006

After a big working week, I splashed out on this pinot, as was curious to try after enjoying the Ferrous Pinot so much. Opened to a wonderful bouquet of sour cherry, cola, rhubarb, pepper and tea. On the palate it showed more cherry and redberry fruits over some very svelt tannins, with a touch of minerals. Finish was not that deep but superbly balanced. Overall much more femine in structure than the Ferrous, and with less depth, but still a superb pinot. Excellent.

Voyager Estate Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2008

For dinner at home with our friend, I served this SSB from the Margaret River. On the bouquet it showed aromas of citrus, passionfruit flowers, gooseberry and some minerals. On the palate it was quite well balanced, with rich-ish fruits over some clean acid and mineral. Finish was quite soft, dry and moreish. Overall quite a well made SSB, which I don't drink that often.
