Yalumba Y Series Viognier 2006
And to the latest vintage of this base range Viognier from Yalumba. The bouquet showed ripe apricot, lemon, honeysuckle and a little herbs. The palate had intensity but was balanced, with no volitility showing. There was fine tropical fruit over a slippery soft mineral backbone, with good length and soft dry spicy finish. This wine has improved over the 2005 vintage and is now definitely worth seeking at around $10 a bottle. Very good value.
