Penfolds Rawson's Retreat Chardonnay 2006
I think I have had the 2005 vintage of this wine some months ago, and from memory it wasn't too bad of a wine, so decided to give the new vintage a try. On the bouquet were quite sweet aromas of nectarine, peach, musk and a hint of oak. On the palate it had quite a nice, almost oily mouthfeel, but again the fruit and finish were quite sweet. I guess this would be quite a popular easy-drinking style, but for me, while cheap at around $10, it is just too sweet. Not dissimilar to Jamiesons Run Chardonnay.
