Blind River Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006
This SB using fruit from the Awatere Valley, had a big relatively sweet bouquet of gooseberries, passionfruit, grass and musk. On the palate it had a crisp but balanced acidity, minerals and quite a dry finish, with a very nice mouthfeel. This is a very well crafted NZ SB, and would be quite popular with most people, as the bouquet would suggest, but for me its the restraint and balance displayed on the palate which makes this really lovely wine.
