Martinez Bujanda Conde de Valdemar Crianza Tempranillo Rioja 2002

My first Rioja, this wine made from tempranillo had a big bouquet of violets, cherries, raspberry licorice, dutch licorice, game and flashes of musk. On the palate it was light to medium bodied berry fruit, roast meat, with soft tannins and quite a dry finish. Silky dry drinking. Would have liked a little more depth on the palate, but the bouquet certainly makes up for the lack. A lovely mid-price Spanish red.
