Mitchelton Print Shiraz 2002

I purchased this Shiraz, as it was the last one on the shelf and was reduced by $10 to $40. Contained in a hugely weighted burgundy bottle under cork, it opened to reveal a heady array of plums, cherries, licorice, chocolate, vanilla and leather. On the palate again it was heady, with some alcohol showing. Good tannins and balanced acidity didn't dissuade me from determining that this was one big boofy, ballsy fruit bomb. A shame, as Australian Shiraz can be very intelligent and refined (eg. Maurice O'Shea Shiraz). Still, nice label.
50+4+12+16+7 = 89/100
