Pieve di Spaltenna Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2000
Although not a fan, I got some Chianti for our pasta dinner, this one being made mainly from Sangiovese, with small additions of Merlot and Colorino. On the bouquet were some nice aromas of red berries, blackberries, rose petals, violets and some spice. The palate was quite savoury, which was a nice contrast, with some sweet balsamic flavours towards the finish. I did find that the body of this wine dropped away occasionally, leaving it a bit thin in parts, but otherwise still quite a lovely and respectable wine.
