Pol Roger NV
Well Merry Christmas! Started off with a bottle of this with some pate, goats cheese and strawberries. Pale gold, the bouquet was citrus dominant, with nectarine, custard apple and a touch of bread. On the palate crisp but superbly balanced acidity, with a creminess and a dry light finish. Lawrence Durrel described Pol as paper thin in "Justine", and he may be right, but this is still a lovely light citrussy Champagne, which refreshes the palate very nicely.
