This white wine made from
Furmint, was from the Tokaj-Hegyalja region in Hungary. Pale wheat-gold in colour, it had a strong herbaceaous aroma, not dissimilar to dry vermouth, with hints of sharp green-apple and unripe pear as it warmed. On the palate it had strong crisp acidity, with white unripened fruit under dry herbs. The length and mouthfeel were similar to an austere riesling or moselle, and finished dry and warm. Overall this wine lacked a little finesse, however it was a good robust dry white, which would suite Hungarian spiced meat dishes and cheeses.
