Château Caronne Ste Gemme Haut Médoc 2005
Located in Saint-Laurent in the Central Médoc, this Cru Bourgeois opened to reveal not much of a bouquet at first, but after a couple of hours slowly showed dark macerated berry fruits, raisons, gravel, vanilla and some green stalk. On the palate it showed excellent structure, with some drying but softening tannins. Fruit was a little tight but would emerge with time I suspect. Overall this wine did seem a little young and underdeveloped, even still it made for lovely drinking. Would definitely improve with time. Very promising.
50+4+13+18+8 = 93/100
