Devil's Lair Chardonnay 2006

For her Birthday, Deb insisted on trying the new vintage of this wine, as she enjoyed the 2004 vintage so much. Opened to a pensive bouquet, which went on to reveal a little milk, oatmeal, smoky bacon, grapefruit, nectarine and pears. On the palate it was crystaline, with very clean slightly sweetish juicy fruits over a lovely mineral core. Again (as with the 2005 vintage), this was quite Burgundinian in style, perhaps tighter and finer than the 2005, but unfortunately it did not serve our purposes as it lacked the fabulous character of the 2004 of which we loved so much. But still quite a fine wine.
50+4+13+18+7 = 92/100
