Kooyong Massale Pinot Noir 2006
The latest vintage of this pinot from the Mornington Peninsula, the wine opened to a sweet and slightly pongy bouquet of red cherries, raspberries, pepper, some earth and mulch. On the palate it was rather heavy, with sour cherries, minerals and some green sap. The tannins were grainy-soft and finish a little bitter. Overall not a bad pinot for $25, but could have had a bit more typicity and tightness. A touch flabby and lush.
