Pio Cesare Barbaresco 2005

A new Pio Cesare in store, and was keen to try as their other wines are quite excellent. Opened to sweet aromas of red cherries, raspberry, peach, amarone, cinnamon, vanilla and some florals. The palate was relatively light in body, but very focused and packed with flavourful fruit, fine integrated tannins and a hint of oak underneath. Alcohol did peak through but was controlled enough not to spoil. Quite an old world Italian styled wine with lots of charm and finesse. Very nice.
50+4+13+18+8 = 93/100
