Being reduced in price, I grabbed a bottle of the 1997 vintage, which I have not had before, only
1998 and
1999 vintages. Opened to quite an austere or slow bouquet, with lemon, peach, honey, wax and some toast. On the palate it was quite robust in acidic terms, and was a little sharp consequently. Still rich and rounded, this was great stuff. My only reservation is that it seemed too young to be drunk now because of the acidity, and probably should be given another 10 years or so.
